We’ve got something to roar about – as today sees the publication of The Baby That Roared in hardback and paperback, written by Simon Puttock and illustrated by Nadia Shireen. It’s a very cool creative pairing of an established and brilliant picture book author with a true rising star in the children’s illustration firmament. Just this year, Nadia’s work has been shortlisted for the Waterstones Prize (missing apostrophe intended at per Mr Daunt’s wishes!) and recognised by the Bologna Children’s Book Fair Ragazzi Awards. Both well-deserved honours, which make us very, very proud to be publishing Nadia’s second picture book.
All good picture books need a great narrative and this is just what Simon Puttock has delivered in this hilarious and finely crafted tale about a truly monstrous baby. It’s a hoot to read aloud and perfect for any family who have just welcomed a new and noisy baby into their brood. So thank you to this talented duo for bringing a very special book to our list.
