Count to ten and back again with Guinea Pig Party!

Hardly a day goes by in the Nosy Crow nest without someone bringing a cake in but we’d better watch out that Guinea Pig Number 8 doesn’t come out of his book and scoff the lot. If he was going to, today would be the day, as it sees the publication (in padded hardback no less!) of the charming Guinea Pig Party written and illustrated by rising star Holly Surplice.
I’ve always loved Holly’s work and I’ve always loved guinea pigs, not to mention the odd party, so I was thrilled when this was submitted to me at Nosy Crow. It really is the perfect pre-school picture book – it’s got a lovely rhyming text, early years counting, birthday fun and some seriously cute guinea pigs (which I know from Wikipedia are in the top five of favourite pets)! It also features a rather wonderful sub-plot (which will appeal to any adult who has ever given a party for a toddler) of the party going slightly wrong – friends fall out, there’s sugar overload, squabbling over party gifts but it’s all brilliant fun in the end! Thank you, Holly, for this perfect little package for the Nosy Crow list.
