Degree show fever

This is my favourite time of the year. It’s degree show season, and graduates over the country are enduring sleepless nights, paper cuts, and last minute printing panics to see the culmination of three years work mounted on the walls of their universities.

As I entered the atmospheric Granary Building at the Central Saint Martins degree show I could feel the excitement and energy in the air. It was a great pleasure to look at this year’s collection. The walls were bursting with talent, showcasing the latest innovative ideas from this year’s graduates.

It takes me back six years, to 3am the night before my degree show. Cutting, sticking and mounting my final project. I was about to embark on a new exciting chapter in my life and all the hard work and scalpel injuries were going to be worth it.

I was most drawn to the illustration department’s collection. The creativity and diversity was outstanding. From monochrome lino cuts, intricate anatomical drawings to bold neon paintings and digital works – all styles and media were represented. I always come away from these events feeling inspired and motivated… and with a handbag full of business cards.

Here at Nosy Crow we are always looking for the very best in design, including fresh new talent to work with us in creating fun, engaging and high quality books for children of all ages.

I cannot wait to see what they have in store for us at the Camberwell College of Arts show this evening!
