Kirsty Stansfield

Yesterday we had our first editorial meeting with Kirsty Stansfield (pictured, right, with Kate). Kirsty worked with Kate at Scholastic, and more recently she was Editorial Director at Orchard Books. She has a young family and has decided to go freelance. She will be reading fiction just for Nosy Crow, helping us to select titles for publication, working with us to come up with series ideas, and editing books.

Yesterday we had a great discussion about some very promising manuscripts and part-manuscripts that have come in, and we also refined some series ideas that are now in search of authors. We had an intelligent conversation, a good laugh and some excellent macaroons.

We’re really keen to see great fiction for children of 13 and under (we’re not in a YA place right now… but everyone else is!), so if you have something you think we should consider, or are a published writer who is interested in working to a series commission, then please do contact us via the [email protected] address.
