On Friday 26 March 2010, Lara Jones died aged 34. Lara was an exceptionally talented illustrator, whose best known – and award-winning – creation was Poppy Cat, published by Macmillan. She worked with both Kate and Camilla, and today Kate went to her funeral in Shropshire, together with her agent, Hilary Delamere, and Emma Hopkin and Suzanne Carnell from Macmillan. She leaves a mother, a father, a sister, a husband and two small children and she also leaves a remarkable number of warm and engaging books for the youngest of children.
