Our iPad arrived!

Here’s Deb opening the parcel containing our long-awaited iPad.

My, it is a beautiful, sleek, tactile thing.

We have been looking at children’s book apps on iPhones and iPod Touches for a while, of course, and we downloaded some of them onto the iPad. We also, downloaded the much talked-about Alice in Wonderland for the iPad. While there are some children’s reading apps we think are innovative and interactive and age-appropriate – the Kidzstory ones are the ones we like best so far – we still think that there’s so much more that the devices make possible, and we hope that Nosy Crow’s forthcoming apps will reset the bar.

But if Kate, Deb and Camilla had to choose an app today to show what the devices can do to a Martian, or, for that matter, a 3-year old, they’d choose Kidzstory’s The Little Red Hen. Camilla has a great weakness for Balloonimals and Talking Carl, but would be the first to acknowledge they’re not book apps.

What are your favourite children’s reading apps and why do you like them? What are your favourite children’s apps, even if they’re not reading apps? Please comment (below) and let us know.
