Today’s the deadline for entries for the Mumpreneur UK 2012 Awards

Last year, at around this time, I was going through the process of entering the Mumpreneur UK 2011 awards.

The process wasn’t cumbersome. Actually, I find putting together the documentation for the few awards we’ve entered ourselves for a rather useful one: it’s an opportunity to reflect on what we’ve done and what we still need to do.

I’ve been to the Mumpreneur UK conference twice now. The first time I went, in September 2010, we hadn’t launched Nosy Crow’s first list and I was hugely impressed by the people who were much further down the road of setting up their own business than I was. I wrote about it here. As I said in that blog post, I found the awards ceremony the most exciting part of the day.

The second time I went was in September 2011. I’d entered myself and Nosy Crow in a couple of different categories for the awards, without, to be honest, any real expectation that we’d win anything, but in the hope that we might be in with a chance with the Newcomer category, When the shortlists came though, we were delighted to be shortlisted in the Newcomer category, as I wrote here. We didn’t win that category, which made me all the more amazed (and speechless, and a bit teary, to be honest) to scoop the big prize: Inspirational Business Mum of the Year. I wrote about it here.

This year, I’ll be back at the conference for a third time. I’ll be speaking and I am proud to be on the judging panel for the awards too.

So I won’t be entering the awards this year, but, if you’re a parent and an entrepreneur, you could. Your entries have to be in by 5.00pm so you’ll have to be quick!
