We have found our Head of Design!

It was a long and challenging search, and we’d lots of great applicants, but at last, four-and-a-half months after we launched, we’re able to tell you that we’ve found our Head of Design.

Stephanie Amster will be joining us on 13 September 2010 – the same day that Kate Burns will join us, and, in fact, Kate and Stephanie worked together at Orchard. Stephanie is currently Deputy Art Director at Orchard Books and prior to that was an Assistant Art Director at Walker Books. She has 18 years’ experience of working on successful picture books such as The Dirty Great Dinosaur, The Princess Who Had No Kingdom and I Don’t Want a Posh Dog. She’s worked with a wide range of well-known picture book authors and illustrators including Giles Andreae, Martin Waddell, Angela Barrett and Debi Gliori.

Kate says:

“We’re delighted that someone with Steph’s experience and skill is keen to join the team at Nosy Crow. She has a real passion for illustration, combined with a great eye and a hands-on attention to detail that makes this role shaping the look of the Nosy Crow list an ideal one for her. Camilla and I are looking forward to working with her, and Kate Burns worked brilliantly with her at Orchard.”

Steph says:

“You just know when something clicks! That’s how I felt on meeting Kate and Camilla. We had the same views on so many things and Nosy Crow’s modern approach to publishing is bursting with energy and forward-thinking.
I am thrilled at being appointed Head of Design at Nosy Crow. The opportunity to grow something from seed – to help shape the visual identity of a list – is both creatively challenging and very exciting. I can’t wait to get started!”
