Who’s that frog?

Today we had some very exciting post: advance copies of Pip and Posy: The Bedtime Frog, the sixth book in the Pip and Posy series by Axel Scheffler, in lots of different languages – the picture at the top of this blogpost is of the Greek, Swedish, Catalan, Finnish, Spanish, Dutch and English editions of the book.

This time around, Posy goes to stay at Pip’s house, and they have lots of fun together before bedtime. But just as they switch out the light, disaster strikes: Posy realises that she has forgotten her favourite frog toy.

Fans of the series may remember Posy’s frog from its previous cameo roles. Here’s one of its very first appearances, on the cover of The Little Puddle:

And here it is in The Super Scooter:

Its second cover appearance was for The Scary Monster:

And it re-appeared in The Big Balloon:

…Which makes The Snowy Day the only volume in which it doesn’t appear. Thankfully it’s now been promoted to a leading role, getting the recognition it deserves. I think the frog is my favourite character in the series: there is something about the slightly vacant, staring-into-the-distance expression on its face that I find absolutely hilarious – and if I found myself in Posy’s position, I think I would be just as unhappy.

Here’s a very first look inside The Bedtime Frog:

And you can pre-order the book online here.

If you have any traumatic lost childhood toy memories, share them in the comments below, and you could win a copy of The Super Scooter or The Little Puddle in paperback! To be eligible, you must have a UK postal address – good luck!
