Would you like to come to our next reading group?

Last week we held our second reading group event – you can read Kate’s summary of the evening here – during which we discussed A Monster Calls, by Patrick Ness. We’re already planning our next event in August, and we’d like to hear from you!

This time we’ll be reading A Boy and a Bear in a Boat, by Dave Shelton – a brilliantly funny debut for 8+ readers, and recent winner of the Branford Boase Award. We’ll be partnering with The Guardian once again, and you’ll be able to join in with the discussion online at a page of their website and on Twitter with the #NCGKids hashtag.

The event will take place on Thursday, August 8, starting at 6.30pm – there are still place for the the group here in London (at our office), so if you’d like to attend, send an email to [email protected] and we’ll try to fit in as many people as possible! If we can’t save a place for you this time, we can, if you’d like, keep you on our waiting list for cancellations and add you to our mailing list for future events – and we’d love for you to join in online, at The Guardian’s page or with the Twitter hashtag.

You can buy the book from the Guardian Bookshop here – and if you’d like to know how to draw a boy and a bear in a boat yourself, Dave Shelton gave these VERY helpful instructions to The Guardian as part of their ‘How to Draw’ series only last week.

We’ll post some discussion points for the book a little closer to the date – we hope you can join us!
