Paula Harrison talking about her Rescue Princesses and Faerie Tribes series on Three Counties Radio

Our lovely author, Paula Harrison, who’s done many events for children, and has been interviewed by her local press, had her first radio interview today, talking about her debut series, Rescue Princesses and her new series, Faerie Tribes.

You’ll be able to hear it for the next week, I think.

In may own experience, radio interviewing is a pretty nerve-wracking experience (though not as ghastly as TV), but Paula speaks with such aplomb on the BBC Three Counties radio show (you can find it here, 37 minutes and 12 seconds in, that it made us feel as impressed as we felt proud.

We think Paula’s is a really inspiring story for any aspiring author: she sent in the manuscript for her first Rescue Princess book to Nosy Crow completely speculatively. Adrian read it first, and then Kirsty, Camilla and I read it and felt that the combination of bold princesses, friendship, magic jewels, ninja moves and animals in need of rescuing was a winner. We’ve sold US and Hebrew rights so far, and the books are available, as they say, in all good bookshops here and in Australia and New Zealand.

Paula followed up Rescue Princesses (we’re still publishing the series) with Faerie Tribes, which is just out, and aimed at older readers. You can read the first chapter of the first book, The Crystal Mirror, here.
