Win copies of Nosy Crow’s February books!

It’s that time again when we start looking forward to the fantastic new crop of books publishing next month and, once again, we’re giving you the chance to win one of our brand new titles! Our February 2016 list really does have something for everyone: lovely little farmyard sound books from Axel Scheffler for younger readers, beautiful picture books about bunnies, books or even combine harvesters, and the much-anticipated next titles in two fantastic fiction series. As always, to celebrate publication day, we’ll be giving away copies of all of the books publishing next month. If you’re a resident of the UK or Ireland, then you could win any of the books below by subscribing to our Books Newsletter and sending us an email with the book you’d like to win!

First up next month are the first two titles in Axel Scheffler’s new Sound-Button Story books, Higgly Hen and Gobbly Goat! In Gobbly Goat, Gobbly is ready for lunch! But what can he find that’s yummy to munch? Join Gobbly in the farmyard on his quest to find a tasty morsel to eat. In Higgly Hen, Higgly has lost her chicks! Oh dear, wherever can they be? Follow Higgly around the farmyard as she searches for her missing chicks. Little fingers will just love pushing the big sound button to hear Higgly’s clucking or Gobbly’s bleating on every page.

Also out next month is Hush-a-Bye Bunny, by Holly Surplice, author and illustrator of the extremely cute Guinea Pig Party. It’s time for Bunny to go to bed, but he doesn’t want to leave his mummy and when he gets all tearful, Mummy Bunny knows just the rock-a-bye lullaby to comfort her little one. Hush-a-Bye Bunny is perfect for comforting sleepy little bunnies who don’t like being left alone when it’s time to turn out the light.

Also up for grabs is Baxter’s Book, the fantastic debut from Hrefna Bragadottir.

Baxter LOVES books! He likes stories about scary wolves, cuddly bears and cute rabbits. If only he could be in a book, too! But when Baxter auditions to star in a book, the judges cut his dream short – what a curious creature, they cry! Poor Baxter! He knows he can’t be like scary Wolf, cuddly Bear and cute Rabbit, and decides he doesn’t want to be in a book anymore. But wait . . . what’s that on the bookshelf? Could it be Baxter’s very own book?

We are very proud to be publishing this wonderful debut book by a brilliant new picture book talent!

You could also win a copy of Old Macdonald’s Things that Go, a brilliant new take on the old nursery rhyme classic. Written by Jane Clarke and illustrated by Migy Blanco, this beautiful picture book is perfect for anyone who loves farmyard animals AND vehicles!

Old Macdonald’s farm is full of pigs, cows, sheep, hens and horses, but what he really loves is his COLOSSAL collection of vehicles! From bicycles, tractors and buses, to boats, fire engines and aeroplanes, there are LOTS of things that go on Old Macdonald’s farm, and the animals love to join in with the fun, too.

February also brings with it a bumper crop of great fiction titles. You could win the next title in The Secret Rescuers series, The Baby Firebird, written by Paula Harrison and illustrated by Sophy Williams. In a magical land far far away it’s up to a small group of secret rescuers to keep magical creatures safe from the grasp of the evil Sir Fitzroy and to keep passing on the secret challenge to new girls – keeping the adventures going! This is the third book in this brilliant series about magical mythical creatures and the girls who will do everything in their power to keep them safe.

Last, but by no means least, is the hilarious Attack of the Demon Dinner Ladies, written by Pamela Butchart and illustrated by Thomas Flintham. Izzy and her friends have never liked school dinners. And they’re getting worse. The dinner ladies are acting strangely. Lollipop man mentions there is a new head dinner lady and calls her “a bit of a legend” (in a bad way) and that she used to be here a long, long time ago and has returned. Izzy and friends wonder if she is the reason for the strange behaviour. They wonder why she has returned. They find out she was fired. They speculate as to why and decide she’s a demon who’s returned to do bad things. Because why wouldn’t she be? This is the fourth book in the Baby Aliens series, and if you haven’t already had a chance to read about Izzy and her friends and their madcap exploits in this award-winning series, then now is your chance!
