Ball
Linen toy ball, Egypt, 30 BCE–641 CE

This ball from ancient Egypt is made of linen cloth and is hollow, with stone chips inside to make it rattle. Strips of red and green reed were wrapped round the outside to make it stronger. The ball is about 2,000 years old and comes from the time when the Romans ruled Egypt.
