Bottom - Nosy Crow Skip to content

Drawing by Edward Burne-Jones, United Kingdom, 1883–1889

The drawing of a bottom belongs to a small child who is walking by the seaside, holding a cat! This funny picture was drawn in a letter by the artist, Edward Burne-Jones, and he sent it to his friend’s daughter, Katie Lewis. Most cats don’t like water – maybe the artist is imagining how a cat might feel if his owner wanted to take him for a dip in the sea. The cat doesn’t look very pleased!
