Crescent pendant, Malaita island, Solomon Islands, early 1900s

This pendant is from Solomon Islands, a group of six large and many small islands in the Western Pacific. The crescent is made of pearlshell and the bird is of turtleshell. These pendants were worn on the chest, usually by men.
