Lighthouse

This is a picture of a lighthouse in Whitby Harbour in the north of England. There are some boats on a rough sea under a cloudy sky, with the lighthouse next to the harbour. Lighthouses are very important for people who are out at sea. They warn people of danger and guide them to land. A traditional lighthouse, like this one, is a tall, rounded tower on land near a coast. The main feature of all lighthouses is a bright light, which would be very helpful on a dark night!
