Lizard - Nosy Crow Skip to content

Model lizard, Bangkok, Thailand, 1880–1906

This life-like lizard has been made from pith, which is the centre of a plant stem. The pith has been dried hard, then carved into shape and painted. It comes from Bangkok in Thailand which has a warm climate that lizards like.

Lizards are reptiles, which means they are cold-blooded and need the sun to warm them up. Heat gives them energy to move.

Did you know?

In colder countries lizards have to sleep through the winter. This is known as ‘hibernation’.
