Llama

The Inca people lived hundreds of years ago, high in the Andes Mountains in a place now called Peru. They didn’t have horses or cows, so they used llamas to help them. Llamas are more like camels than horses – in fact, they are a cousin of the camel.

Llamas helped carry things from place to place, because the Incas had lots of roads, but no wheels.

The Inca buried little gold and silver figures like this all over the mountains because they thought they would bring them good luck. This llama is so tiny, it can fit in the palm of your hand!
