Sunflower
Sunflower badge, UK, 2000–2003

This badge was made to raise money for St Raphael’s Hospice. The sunflower and leaves are made of plastic and would be attached to a person’s clothing with a safety pin.

Sunflowers are tall plants that may grow 10 feet (three metres) high. They come from the Americas and are now grown all around the world. As the plants grow, they tilt towards the sun. When they bloom, the flower petals fan out like the sun’s rays.

Did you know?

One sunflower head may produce up to 1,000 seeds.
