Toy mouse

Toy mouse
Toy clay mouse, Egypt, 1550–1070 BCE

Lots of Egyptian children played with toy mice, as well as dolls, spinning tops, model lions and crocodiles with snapping jaws. Rich children’s toys were made from wood, ivory, ceramic or stone, while poorer children had toys made of clay or footballs made from linen rags.

Did you know?

To cure a cough, ancient Egyptian doctors said you should swallow a mouse!
