Tegen Evans

Tegen Evans is a children’s book writer and editor based in London. She has an English degree from Oxford University and now spends her time researching and writing about all kinds of topics for children – from Greek myths to woodland adventures. When she’s not at her desk, you can usually find her wandering around the parks and bookshops of south east London.

Tegen also writes under the pen-name Goldie Hawk. Her books have been translated into 12 languages.

Janina Ramirez

Janina Ramirez is a cultural historian who teaches at the University of Oxford. She went to school in Slough, England, is Polish and Irish, and married to a Spanish Scot. Janina fell in love with history on a visit to Hampton Court Palace in London when she was seven years old. Seeing a doorstep worn down by thousands of feet walking on it across centuries made her fascinating by people of the past.

Janina has written many books, some for adults and some for children. With a love of storytelling, she finds the best inspiration comes from looking back at the stories, people and ideas that inspired humans hundreds and thousands of years ago. Janina also presents documentaries on television and radio, which allows her to travel the world. But she is happiest at home with her family, four cats, three chickens and two hamsters.

Kathrin Honesta

Kathrin is an independent illustrator based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Her works are inspired by her reflective thoughts, faith, and life in general. She loves to use symbolism and visual metaphors to add layers to her works. You can find her work both in print and digital for multinational clients, such as Google, Facebook, HarperCollins, Nosy Crow, Penguin Random House, Usborne Books UK & Holiday House.

Penelope Dullaghan

Penelope Dullaghan grew up playing outside, swimming in lakes and drawing pictures. She still loves all those things today, and now it’s her job to make pictures! When she’s not working in her home studio, she’s usually homeschooling her daughter (who wants to be an artist when she grows up, too), going camping in the woods or trying to get things to grow in her garden. Her website and blog can be found at www.penelopedullaghan.com.

Emily Ann Davison

Emily spent her childhood writing poems and stories. It’s therefore no surprise that she became an author, it just took her a little while to get there.
As a grown up, Emily worked with young children for many years, and her passion for children’s books grew and grew and GREW, until one day, a story idea POPPED into her head. Now the ideas won’t stop popping! When she isn’t writing, she can be found tinkling on the piano or at her local primary school, where she helps with reading.
Emily lives in the Garden of England, Kent, with her daughter and husband. She is never seen without a cup of tea.

Lucy Hope

Lucy Hope grew up in North Wales, though now she lives in the Cotswolds. After jobs ranging from managing telecoms products to working in schools, she did a master’s degree in Writing for Young People at Bath Spa university. Wren is her second novel.

Harriet Hobday

As a child, Harriet would spend hours drawing what was around her and filling sketchbooks with imagined characters and scenes. Little did she know that she would become a (real!) Illustrator for a living. She left her hometown of Yorkshire to embark on an undergraduate degree in Illustration at The Cambridge School of Art, where she stayed on to study the esteemed MA in Children’s Book Illustration. It was during this time that she developed her love of storytelling and limited colour palettes.

Following graduation she moved to Edinburgh, where she was inspired by the impressive architecture and buildings became a recurring theme in her work. Since then she has returned home to Yorkshire, where she spends her days making books, causing havoc in the kitchen and watching videos of Elephant Shrews ( If you don’t know them – look them up!)

She was selected for THE BOOKSELLER’s Illustrator Showcase and The Cheltenham Illustration Awards, was runner up in The Batsford Prize, and has been highly commended in the ‘The Macmillan Prize’ for Children’s Illustration.
