The Princess and the Christmas Rescue

2-5
Quantity

A fabulously festive Christmas picture book about how one very unprincessy princess uses all her stem skills to rescue Christmas.

Princess Eliza is an engineer extraordinaire! She loves making toys and gadgets, even though her mum thinks it’s not very princessy at all. But when Santa falls ill, and the elves are desperate for help, Eliza knows just how to save the day. With her inventing skills and engineering know-how, she makes, wraps and delivers presents AND makes some very unexpected friends along the way . . . all in time for Christmas Eve!

This feminist rhyming story by award-winning author Caryl Hart is perfect for princesses and princes who don’t need rescuing.

And there’s more! If you like Caryl Hart’s and Sarah Warburton’s witty and warm stories, there’s a whole series of books to discover about princesses who are definitely NOT princessy. Try The Princess and the Christmas Rescue, The Princess and the Giant, The Princess and the Presents and The Princess and the Pea.

Take a look inside

“This is a joyful story with sly allusions to other fairy tales, and the illustrations bring to life a Nordic winter.”

“Warburton includes plenty of fun, offhand details in her scruffy cartoons (a guitar rests beside the fireplace in Santa’s cozy den, and he sports a purple sweater under his red coat). Hart delivers a welcome twist on a “saving Christmas” story that slyly references familiar fairy tales while placing a tech-savvy princess at its center.”

“Fans of Princess and the Pea stories will enjoy this rhyming, heroic tale of a girl who uses her wits to solve problems. Warburton’s peppy, busy, whimsical, and often pink-toned illustrations should have no trouble winning over kids. A great choice for read- alouds, too.”

Booklist

“We loved this book. I had not read anything from the series before so was pleasantly surprised to discover that the Princess is brainy and bright and comes to the rescue through her fantastic inventions. The creative and brave princess is a great role model for little girls. We loved the illustrations and my daughter loves to look at the pages spotting new things.  It’s the kind of book she will fondly remember when she is an adult I think. There is also a lovely message about kindness in the book.  Top marks from us! Will definitely be buying more in the series.”
